Tekamah-Herman Boys lose to West Point-Beemer in Sub Districts
The Tekamah-Herman Boys lost 66-27 to West Point-Beemer last Monday night in the C1-6 Sub District Play-In Game at Oakland-Craig.
The Cadets led the Tigers 27-7 at the end of one. West Point-Beemer won the second quarter 15-9 to lead 42-16 at halftime.
The Cadets outscored Tekamah-Herman 19-7 in the third quarter to go up 61-23 at the end of three.
West Point-Beemer notched 5 fourth quarter points compared to 4 for the Tigers.
Gus Langley notched a team-high 13 points while Matt Gross added 9 points and 7 rebounds.
I don't think there's any doubt this game would have been closer had Derek Haber not gotten hurt. The Tigers not having him really handicapped this team.
Tekamah-Herman finished the season 2-20.
It was an extremely difficult year for the Tigers. Tekamah-Herman wasn't very competitive in most of their games, but did pick up a win over Friend in the Nebraska Wesleyan Holiday Tournament.
The 2016 portion of this year's schedule didn't treat the Tigers well so hopefully the winter of 2016 will treat Tekamah-Herman better.
The Tigers lose quite a few players, including Haber, Langley, Gross, Thomas Hennig, Nick Bohanon, and Bailey Fleischman.
Dustin Pickell is probably the best player returning for Tekamah-Herman.
It will be interesting to see what kind of success the Tigers have in 2016-2017.
Hopefully Tekamah-Herman has a good incoming freshman class because there weren't a ton of boys out for basketball this year, at least at the JV and Varsity levels.
Next year's Tiger team figures to be pretty young so it could be another year of growing pains for Tekamah-Herman.
However, the Tigers have to learn somehow so perhaps by going through these difficult times there will be a light at the end of the tunnel.
I fully expect Tekamah-Herman to get after things this offseason in hopes of being as competitive as possible next season.
