West Point-Beemer Boys drop East Husker Conference Tournament game to Bancroft-Rosalie

The West Point-Beemer Boys lost 53-49 at home to Bancroft-Rosalie in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament on Saturday.

The Panthers led the Cadets 19-13 after one. West Point-Beemer won the second quarter 11-9 to make it a 28-24 game at the half.

Bancroft-Rosalie outscored the Cadets 11-10 in the third quarter to go up 39-34 at the end of three.

West Point-Beemer notched 15 fourth quarter points compared to 14 for the Panthers.

Tate Toelle finished with a team-high 17 points while Blake Schroedter notched 12. Ben Jahnke registered 9 while Adam Niewohner totaled 7. Austin Streeter added 9 rebounds.

I think the Cadets would have won if they would of had Chase Streeter, but he was out, and Bancroft-Rosalie took advantage of that.

West Point-Beemer (7-13) travels to Wisner Friday night to take on Wisner-Pilger (7-10) in an East Husker Conference Tournament consolation game.

The Gators lost to Howells-Dodge 56-52 in the first round at Twin River on Saturday.

Both teams have really been struggling lately, so something has to give in this game.

Wisner-Pilger's issue has been free throw shooting while I think the Cadets have simply been in a slump.

I'm sure West Point-Beemer would love to pick up a win and snap their five-game losing streak and get back on the winning side of things.

It won't be easy though, especially if Chase Streeter isn't playing.

However, the Cadets beat the Gators 40-27 at home on January 18th so if it can happen once, it can certainly happen again.

West Point-Beemer has to really believe that, and try and gain any sort of mental edge that they can.

I think this game has a chance to be tight and close, just like a number of these teams' games have been lately.

It will be interesting to see which team can pick up a win, and snap out of the funk they are in.

A win could go a long ways in getting things turned around for both teams. The loser will probably be feeling disappointed that they didn't win.

The season is winding down so all of these games from here on out are important.

The team that wants this one the most will probably come out on top.

Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
