Pender Boys lose to Emerson-Hubbard, fall to Twin River in East Husker Conference Tournament
The Pender Boys fell 68-43 at Emerson-Hubbard last Tuesday night before losing 82-51 at Twin River on Saturday, January 30th in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament.
The Pirates and Pendragons were tied at 13 at the end of one. Emerson-Hubbard doubled up Pender 26-13 in the second quarter to lead 39-26 at halftime.
The Pendragons won the third quarter 11-10 to make it a 49-37 game at the end of three.
The Pirates outscored Pender 19-6 in the fourth quarter.
The Pendragons' struggles have continued here at the end of the regular season.
Pender (2-17) hosts Madison (8-12) on Saturday.
The Dragons won 66-59 at David City Thursday night.
Madison isn't a bad team, and the Pendragons will certainly have their work cut out for them.
What helps Pender though, in my opinion, is the fact they will have had two weeks off.
That's more practice time and more time to prepare for the Dragons.
I'm sure the Pendragons have worked on quite a few things in practice.
It's getting down to crunch time, and Pender has to play as well as they possibly can from here on out.
Things haven't been the prettiest for the Pendragons this season, but perhaps Pender can put it together and play a good game against Madison.
The Pendragons could use some sort of momentum heading into sub districts.
It needs to come either this week or next week when Pender rounds out the regular season against Bancroft-Rosalie.
Neither game is going to be easy for the Pendragons so Pender needs to play really well if they want to come out on top in either contest.
We will see how much resolve this team has, how tough they are, and what they are made of.
I look for the Pendragons to give the Dragons their best shot. What type of game that results in, I don't know, but one way or another I look for Pender to do the very best they can.
