Tekamah-Herman Girls off to 1-1 start in East Husker Conference Tournament

The Tekamah-Herman Girls are 1-1 in the East Husker Conference Tournament so far, defeating Lyons-Decatur Northeast 65-56 at home Friday night before losing 55-51 at West Point-Beemer Monday night.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast led the Tigers 14-13 after one. Tekamah-Herman won the second quarter 19-18 to tie the game at 32 at halftime.

The Tigers outscored the Cougars 17-6 in the third quarter to go up 49-38 after three.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast scored 18 points in the fourth quarter compared to 16 for Tekamah-Herman,

Allie Snow had a team-high 21 points. Hannah Tobin added 15 while Jess Fleischman and Sammi Surber registered 11 and 8, respectively.

The Cadets held a one-point lead on the Tigers at the end of one at 18-17. West Point-Beemer won the second quarter 12-11 to go up 30-28 at halftime.

The Cadets outscored the Tigers 13-7 in the third quarter to lead 43-35 at the end of three.

Tekamah-Herman put up 16 fourth quarter points compared to 12 for West Point-Beemer.

The Tigers have played really good basketball in this tournament so far. A 4-point loss to the Cadets is nothing to get down about.

Tekamah-Herman (13-7) takes on North Bend Central (14-4) in a consolation game of the tournament Thursday night in North Bend.

North Bend Central lost 45-36 to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family in the conference quarterfinals at home Monday night.

This is a very interesting consolation game if you ask me. I'm curious to see how much North Bend Central wants to be there, and how inspired they are.

I think Tekamah-Herman will definitely want to be there. I look for them to play the same way they have as of late, and play a good game.

These two teams are set to meet again in North Bend on Tuesday so I could definitely see Tekamah-Herman winning the first matchup and losing the second game,

I think the two teams will split their two meetings, and I look for Tekamah-Herman to draw first blood.

Snow, Tobin, Fleischman, Surber, and Marin Jetensky all need to have big games for Tekamah-Herman.

Tekamah-Herman's offense needs to be on par, and the defense needs to step things up.

North Bend Central probably is the better defensive team, but Tekamah-Herman is no doubt better offensively.

It figures to be an interesting matchup. The game starts after Pender/Stanton, which is set to start at 6:00 p.m.
